What is Engage 2.0

{ placeholder intro text here }

What is Canvas LMS?

Canvas LMS is a flexible learning management system (LMS) developed by Instructure that helps educators create, manage, and deliver course materials seamlessly. Since its release in 2011, it’s become popular due to its user-friendly interface and robust features like assignment submissions, grading, discussion forums, and multimedia sharing. It’s used widely in K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and even corporate training. Its open architecture allows for integration with tools like Google Apps, Microsoft Teams, and Turnitin, making it adaptable to various educational needs. At NOLA Education, our Engage 2.0 platform, hosted at https://nolaedu.instructure.com/, relies on Canvas LMS to manage our four STEM labs, streamlining lab activities and enhancing student interactions to support our STEM initiatives.

Why the Switch to Canvas LMS?

NOLA Education is moving from the ""Engage"" LMS to ""Engage 2.0"" because our current system just isn’t cutting it anymore. Both educators and students have raised issues about its usability and feature limitations. As our STEM labs grow, it’s clear we need something better. After reviewing various options, we chose Canvas LMS for its strong reputation and comprehensive features. Canvas offers an easy-to-use interface, great assessment tools, and smooth integration capabilities, which will help us provide a better learning environment and manage resources more effectively.
